"For 20 years I coached High School Wrestling for La Crescent and was always in good shape and weighed in at a steady 180 pounds. My last year of coaching was 2000, when I moved to Waseca, MN to work for Hormel Foods in Austin, MN. My job was in management and I was more and more working behind a desk and making excuses about not getting to the gym to lift weights or do some aerobic work. The Summer of 2008, I was up to 217 pounds and looked unhealthy, my son, Brandon suggested I get back in the gym because I wasn’t fit like I used to be.
I transferred to Sparta in Sept. of 2008 to work for Century Foods & found out that Fit4Life was part of the complex. What a wonderful facility it is and the staff are so helpful & friendly.
I began working out during my lunch hour with my boss, Wade Nolte and slowly but surely, the weight started coming off and my shape started to come back. I changed my diet so I was eating a lot more healthier & lifting weights 3 to 4 x’s a week and doing cardio twice per week.
In June of 2010, I was down to 169 pounds and feeling great. May 21, 2011, I did an all- natural bodybuilding competition with my son, Brandon. I weighed 172 pounds and looked good. I placed 5th in the Grand Master Division (50 & over) and my son placed 4th in the novice tall division. What an experience and a great feeling to do something that was on my bucket list. Maybe, I’ll do another competition some day.
Thanks Dave, Kammie & Ann for all of your support and making Fit4Life a fun and wonderful experience for all. If it wasn’t for Fit4Life and the flexible hours and great staff, I would still be over weight. Now I’m in good shape and eating healthy again, it feels great and I won’t let myself get where I was before!”
