"Member of the Month," that is something that I have always read about and saw in the newspaper. Sure I had thought it would be neat to have that kind of recognition. But as someone who has been overweight my whole life, I never thought that would happen. Well, it DID!! And I couldn’t be more excited!
I joined Fit4Life June 10th, 2009. That first day was one of the scariest and shocking days I have ever experienced. I weighed in at 264lbs, and hearing that number was like taking a bullet. I decided then that, that number would no longer go up; I will take charge and change.
I started working out with Kammie, and completely changed the way I ate. I thought it was going to be impossible, but it wasn’t. It took a lot of hard work, determination and many pushes in the right direction. That awful, scary and ugly number was going away; the scale was going down! Seeing and most of all feeling a change in my body was the drive that I needed to keep pushing myself to keep seeing that change.
Now, 1 year later I can proudly say that I have lost 68lbs!!! That to me is an AWESOME number. I have so much more energy and my whole outlook on life has changed. When someone asks me how I’ve done it I say, "I hired a trainer, I work out like it’s my job and I’ve made this "diet" my lifestyle." -JoAnna Giraud
Anyone who successfully loses over 50 lbs has accomplished quite a feat! Despite several potential roadblocks and the peer pressure for young women her age, JoAnna kept going week after week and month after month. It’s interesting to note, that JoAnna knows the exact date she joined and started her journey of change. It is truly this “once and for all” decision that creates the needed initial power & momentum. JoAnna was wise and hired a trainer to teach her the skills and knowledge she needed to succeed, and most importantly keep her moving forward to prevent the fizzle-out that happens to most weight loss hopefuls.
JoAnna has completely changed her attitudes and beliefs about exercise and she now eats for a purpose most days vs. eating for pleasure every day. She also ran a 5k and then the 5mile Butterfest run. Her personal accomplishments keep piling up and so does her self-confidence!
JoAnna has transformed her life! So much so she is even working at Fit4Life now and wants to share her success by helping others succeed as well. Congratulations JoAnna! -Dave
